Let’s draw a cute dog and learn some English at the same time!

Materials

You will need: 

• A pencil
• A sheet of paper
• Some coloured pencils or paints
• A black felt-tip pen or marker

Or you can do a digital painting with your phone, tablet, or computer!

Ok, let’s draw! 

Step 1 – Sketch

First, sketch some simple shapes like circles and triangles. Make the rough shape of the dog. We can sketch the background now too. Use a light pencil and draw softly. 

Step 2 – Draw

Next, use a darker pencil and add some more detail. Draw the eyes, ears and mouth. 

Step 3 – Colour

Now we can add some colours to our picture. We can paint it, using paints and a brush. Or we can colour it in, using coloured pencils. 

Use bright colours!

Step 4 – Shadows and Highlights

Now, we can add some shadows to one side of the image. Let’s add some shadows using darker colours to the bottom and left side. Then, we can add some highlights using light colours to the top and right. Be careful, don’t add too much!

Step 5 – Outline and Final Touches

Last step! Let’s draw the outline using a black felt-tip pen or marker. You can use a thick tip for the foreground and a thin tip for the background. 

Finally let’s write “DOG” on the bowl and then sign our picture!
